Knitwear, as an umbrella term for knitted or crocheted fabrics, can be defined as follows: “Knitted and crocheted fabrics are textile fabrics that are made from one or more thread systems through stitch formation.”

Knitted fabrics have a higher elasticity compared to woven fabrics and are therefore less likely to crease.

Knitted fabrics include, for example, the ever-popular cotton jersey, the stylish Ponte di Roma and also various knitted fabrics such as ribbed cuffs, also called knitted tube.

Woven fabrics can be defined as follows: “Woven fabrics are textile fabrics made by weaving threads from two thread systems, warp and weft, crossing each other at right angles.”

Woven fabrics therefore also have less elasticity than knitted fabrics, for example. Moreover, woven fabrics can be subdivided into three different binding systems: plain, twill and satin.
The woven fabric family includes, for example, our bestseller bunting made from 100% cotton, the airy light viscose voile and also the summer favourite, linen.
